Students come from a range of backgrounds in engineering and physical sciences and spend the first year studying core materials topics through taught courses and case studies before embarking on their PhD or EngD projects.
Applicants should have or be about to obtain a first or upper second class honours degree or a masters level degree with a merit or above in a relevant engineering discipline or in a subject such as physics or chemistry.
Applications from international students are welcome but students should arrange their own funding to cover tuition fees and living costs for 4 years. In exceptional cases, the CDT may be able to support living costs for international students who already have a fees only scholarship.
